Well at the moment it is at a fairly steady rate of the high R13 but it depends on who you buy from and at what time during the week can also effect it. I have seen it go up and down for many years now. When i moved out there in 1993 it was like R7 to the pound, then it stayed at a constant rate of R12 to the pound in 1997-2000. When I came back to the UK for studies it rose to like R17 to the pound, it was crazy times. Last year it was back at R12 to the pound. But if you are changing pounds for Rand, you'll get a descent loot no matter what!

Exchange rates don't mean much, they generally reflect the opinion of other countries of the stability of the country. A general indication is how much can you buy with your UK quid and at the moment, R10 will buy roughly the same as a UK pound.Fags and booze are cheap but some food items are more expensive so it evens out.
