The daughter who was turned into a prostitute during slavery did some kind of devils horn, similar to that of rock singers( The index and pinky fingers out and the others tucked in) What did that symbol mean in that era?

The corna (Italian for horns, also mano cornuta, horned hand) is a gesture with a vulgar meaning in Mediterranean countries. Its origins can be traced to Ancient Greece. It is realized by extending the index and little fingers while holding the middle and ring fingers down with the thumb.

The same gesture is used for warding off bad luck or the evil eye.

In Italy, if the "horns", i.e., the stretched fingers, are surreptitiously placed behind someone's head, or explicitly pointed at a person, the conveyed meaning is that that person is being cheated on by his wife or (more rarely) her husband. Hence the Italian cornuto, that translates literally to having horns, but figuratively means cuckold. The gesture is also common in Spain (known as los cuernos), Portugal and Brazil (cornos) and Czech Republic (known as paroháč) and has the same meaning.

Hope this helps.

I am so proud of you for being such a great mom!!! I can see how caring and thoughtful you are with your daughter! I'm not a professional, but I've got a really good idea that I would do if I were you. Have you ever heard of the Christian music group Casting Crowns? They are really popular. The lead singer, Mark Hall, is severly dyslexic. But he is an absolutely amazing singer. He is married and is a father. Buy her the Casting Crowns CD, or look the group up on the web and show it to your daughter. He gives inspiration to a lot of people and I'm sure he'll do the same for your daughter. When she sees and hears him, I bet she'll see that she WILL be able to lead a completely normal, successful life, with a husband and children too! =) Good luck!! =)

Which Jewish guy, the body guard? He sometimes wears a yamaka.

As for the girl she is going to the University of Texas, "Hookem Horns".

No, really, she was gesturing a curse on her father. It was a hex of sorts. It has nothing to do with the devil however.
