Although karaoke is not a promising avenue and am impartial to American Idol, I have my own demo. It isn't getting any bites and I just moved to Dallas, TX where I thought I would get better response than previous cities I have lived I.E. Baton Rouge, New Orleans. Maybe I'm just not good at putting myself out there, so what do I do? Do I need to reproduce my demo? What do I do after that? Record companies don't go for unsolicited demos. Who do I need to get me further along in the music biz?

Don't quit your dayjob as you'll likely be doing that for quite some time before you get signed. BTW you really can't sing.

Just keep singing wherever you can. To friends or just any place. Dallas TX is a big place.
Play your demos to people. Yes, reproduce and maybe give to friends to play at parties.
Try Am. Idol.

All the best.

Try looking on local radio websites. Sometimes they have local music scene info and put samples of musicians tracks on the site. A friend of mine has one here in Ottawa,On Canda. Try sending a clip to theottawamusician.com. Maybe he wil put it up. Check out the site. No worries either, this is a free site, no charges what so ever.
