On their own none of them are particularly entertaining.
Put them together and watch them bicker though and it becomes excellent tv. It's the chemistry between them that makes this program work.

Yikes, tough one! Obviously, Clarkson has been there the longest but that doesn't necessarily make him the star.
Much attention has been given to Richard Hammond following The Crash, although he deserved it before for his work on other shows (Brainiac won't be the same without him). Plus he gets a lot of female attention on account of his being, well, PHWOAR.
However, James May is as much a part of the team as the others even though he may not be as well-known. The Top Gear magazine is worth buying for his column alone, he's a very good writer. His appearance on Oz & James's Big Wine Adventure shows that he can also shine on his own.
I still don't think there's just one star of Top Gear, though. Last night's episode showed how close they are as both colleagues and friends, and I doubt it would be anywhere near as good if any one of them left.

Clarkson has presence. The Hamster is funny. May, well I'm not really sure why he's part of the Lads Group, except perhaps he's the studious one. I like them all, but I think Clarkson is the star. He has real star quality, is articulate and is not afraid to laugh at himself.

They are all brilliant and work perfectly with eachother. If I was forced to choose I'd say Clarkson is the star.

Clarkson. Though they all go well together. James is the cerebral one, the Hamster the joker and Jezza the showman.

The Hamster, he even makes educational programs funny. The Hamster is most definitely the star!
The group of them with all of their differences is what makes Top Gear so entertaining, I watch it and I'm definitely not into cars.
