Yes. Music can awaken many feelings in you. It does to me. There are so many songs that brings back my childhood. With other songs I remember my teen years. And so on.

Sometimes - I can remember where I was/what I was doing when I first heard a particular song, or the general "situation" I was in at the time. For example, Stevie Wonder's "Happy Birthday" I was doing work experience on the local paper; the Style Council's "Long Hot Summer" seemed to be on the radio constantly when I got dumped by the then love of my life.
Hearing Eighties stuff now transports me back to being rather younger, slimmer and blonder than I am .... By contrast, a lot of stuff from the Nineties and beyond just washes over me without leaving any impression whatsoever.

Yes. I tried to learn a new instrument about a year ago and thought the best way would be playing the songs I used to listen to. I associate music with people and things that have happened in my life and found listening to, singing, and playing those songs very hard. It was almost like reliving it all, some of it makes me smile, some makes me regret the things I have done and friends I have lost. Music is a powerful and beautiful thing.

That surely depends on the music. Some music can certainly bring back half-forgotten memories.

Absolutely! Music defines the times in your life, the stages you were at in life far more than old girlfriends, the old house you used to live in, the jobs you had or anything else. Music is the best!!!

Ohhh definitely. When i hear [Sitting in the backrow of the movie's] i think of the times we my friends and i used to sit on old motor-car seats at a Drive-inn watching movies and smooching , hugging with our boyfriends.
When i hear [Come softly to me ] Percy Sledge, i remember going to his concert in SA and loving it. Also dancing what was called a shuffle , well standing so close to each other and barely moving and kissssssinnngggg mmmm.
Songs like [Sitting on the docks of the Bay ] makes me sad, then i miss S-Africa and remember the ocean etc.
And hearing [Put your hand, in the hand ] cannot remember who sang that reminds me of my very first love's mother, she loved that song.
Love having Memories , thanks for asking this question:))))

music is, to some degree, the map of my life, I grew up listening to big band jazz, ( my father being a musician) so most of that reminds me of my younger days, my teenage years were the 80's so groups like human league, and the cure remind me of my fav school days, not I'm a musician myself and music still takes me to places I love to be

Yes. Same is true for smells. For some reason sound and smells can evoke all sorts of memories.
