it could be the fuel pump, not delivering enough gas to keep it running, but try changing the gas filter, and see if that helps first.it could be getting clogged.before changing the fuel pump right away, try running a test on the fuel pump off of the fuel rail.

This is not enough infro to answer your question !
1. how fast were you going ?
2. will it try to start now ?
3. what kind of car, engine and trans ?
4. Is it regularly maintained ?
5. did it get hot ?
without know these answers it could be your fuel pump, fuel regulator , you could have spun a bearing or ????

It sounds like you jumped timing, or your timing belt needs replacing. It also sounds like you need to take better care of your car. The most important thing you can do for a car is change the oil.
You may have blown a valve due to the dirty oil. Have the compression checked on the cylinders.
Good luck to you on that.

sounds like the converter is stopped up , if the car will crank up but drives slow this is very possible , fuel pump has to have pressure on the injectors to run, start with the most simple things first,

it could be the fuel pump, but then you may need to look at the oil,,,if the oil is low are out, that would cause it, an if it was hot , that too would do it, do belive you oil gage, , some time they will not show , it real low

Id check the timing belt if it wasn't the fuel filter. Should probably change the fuel filter anyway. I recently had a waterpump problem and it caused my timingbelt to break... car just died.

If it is catalitic, it should be analized by scanner. It´s the only way to find the problem.
