no I do not..and another thing that annoys me is when they call up and want me to get a credit card and they say their name is nick smith and they have an indian accent so thick you could cut it with a knife...now if they are going to lie to me about their names and locations..what makes them think that I am going to trust them enough to get a credit card from them and give them all of my personal information?

hey I never said I had a personal problem with someone from another country, I just think that if they want me to give them my ss number they should at least tell me where they are calling from and not lie to me and say their name is mary jones or some other b.s. when ya can't even cut through their accent in the first place.

Sometimes, eventually. I think the intelligibility runs from a high of 85% at best to down around 50%. I've had some where I could only understand certain discrete words, like "open", "close", "yes", "no" - to claim these are English speakers is farcical.

Thanks to all those corporations saving pennies per call on these "help" lines. You can always try to keep escalating the call up the chain until you can get someone that can speak English.

Philippines. Both Indians and Philippinos can be hard to understand, but Philippinos have less of an accent. Also they are nicer, a lot of Indians will get mad at you if you don't understand them or disagree w/ them on something. They will get bitchy with you and say "let me transfer you to my supervisor" then put you on hold for 10 minutes then cut off the line. The best way around talking with someone from outside of the country is to press "2" (or "7" or whatever) for Spanish. Then, start talking English with them. EVERY time I have done this, they speak perfect English back to me. I asked one girl where she was working out of and she said Chicago. Others have said New York or Texas. For whatever reason they don't outsource those to Spanish-speaking countries but use bilingual people in the U.S. Ironic but it has worked for me every time.

No, it's horrible... nothing like calling US AIRways and and finding out that there's a problem with your airline tickets and you can't really understand the person you are talking to at "customer service," they can't particularly understand you, although they pretend you can, and you spend about an hour or so on a five-minute problem... ugh!! Same goes with most ocmputer support numbers and bill-paying numbers too! -.-

I don't have a problem with them. Their just working for a living like everyone else is. Face it, it's a smaller planet these days. I do x-rays and CT scans on the night shift in a small Oregon hospital. From 10:30 pm until 7:30 am any CTs that I do I send to a radiology service in Sydney, Austrailia for a report.

They are really not as easy to understand. I always ask to them to slow down and keep reminding them whenever they speak too fast.

You know, at times, there is no way but to make things work. In today's cost optimum organizational structures, it is inevitable to move non critical tasks to low-cost geographies. Therefore, my formula is to how to make my transaction successful. Requesting them to speak slowly has worked for me. It may for you too.
