The fan relay tends to go bad and is located on top of the radiator under the plastic cover. Remove the plastic top cover located around the top of the radiator. If your going to keep the car, you might as well just buy a new fan relay and replace it. If it doesn't fix the problem, you'll have a spare if needed in the future.

When you had the "motor on the fan tested to make sure it's getting power" did they check to see if the fan worked or the harness that connects to the fan? There are relays and fuses for power controlled by the PCM. The coolant temp sensor and (if it has one) a temp. switch on the rad give input as to when the fan comes on.

well just because the fan is getting power does not mean that then fan motor is good still. If the car has A/C turn it on and see if the fan comes on if it doesn't then you probably have a bad motor.

hope this helps

check the coolant temperature sensor unit....it tells the fan when to come on. if it goes bad, it won't send any info to the fan relay. it is not the same as the temp sending unit that sends temp info to the dash gauge.

I used to have one and I ended up running a hot wire directly to the battery with a toggle switch on the dashboard to turn on/off manually. not the best solution, but it worked.
