Well i need either a 1gb chunk or a 2gb chunk of ram for my laptop....... any sights out there that have good STUDENT pricing????

In Canada there are student co-ops that offer better pricing.
Consult your local universities for details on that.
In the U.S. ... not sure..... they are still struggling with better prices on prescriptions for seniors ... let alone PCs for students.

go to craigslist.org and buy a LOCAL secondhand pc cheap. Sometimes people need money to pay bills or just need to get rid of the older desktop (space). Remember to find your area on Craiglist. (state and nearest city) then you can drop by, try & buy from real people in your area.)
ps. Keep checking the ads 'til something looks good, then email them, ask for local phone #, call & get the real info, specs, software, location etc., people post new ads all day. free)!
