So could somebody please explain to me why all the children/young people on Eastenders are all either illiterate or little thiefs or in many cases a combination of both?
I know it's not real but it's really begining to annoy me!

If the children are too well behaved = boring, so the kids are mostly tearaways I'm afraid.
All is not lost. I think the Branning girls, and Ian's children aren't so bad. Ben is ok. I know he doesn't like Phil's girlfriend -- but who can blame him? She's gonna be a psycho, mark my words. She broke that model car that Ben made deliberately and she's also secretly said mean things to Ben.

Phil's son Ben, has anyone checked underneath his hair to see if there is a 666? What a horrible kid. To answer you question, the "writers" of EE think this is the way that working class children behave. They have no imagination, are lazy, and overpaid, possibly.

You've answered your own question really by saying it's not real, but let's face it, without those kids "on the block" (or in this case, "square!"), there wouldn't be much left on which to write the plots!

It's a reflection of real life innit? Art imitating Life or something.
Though there is a kid who seems quite brainy to me (but I can't remember her name right now) - the one whose dad used to be Kenny in Press Gang (he got carted off to prison back in the autumn last year).

I know every newcomer has problems then someone comes along and saves them from their troubled little lifes it such a Cliche.
