Does anyone know if there is a train that travels from Guilin, China to Hanoi, Vietnam? I have been researching a trip to this part of the world and I've found one tour company and one website that mentions it, but have been told my another company no such train exists. Does anyone know for sure? Better yet, has anyone actually ridden this train?

Here is a good webpage for train travel. It says there is such a train as Tom T has written.

There is also a link there to Vietnam Train too. Good info there.

Yes and it's still in operation:
The M1 train from Hanoi to Beijing ( Depart every Tuesday and Friday ) also stops at Guiling along the way ($85 one way). Check out the link for more details.

The M2 runs from Beijing to Hanoi with a stop at Guilin.
