Ok, so your hard drive's file system is currently fat32? You want to make it NTFS? Simple if you Format your hard drive using your Operating system CD (Windows XP) after formatting (wiping it clean) has complete you will be prompted to decide what file system you would like, NTFS or Fat32. Choose NTFS if you have quite a large hardrive, 40gig or more, stay with fat32 otherwise. Hope this helps, o and remember to back up all your old files before formatting/reinstalling your PC, especially any unusual drivers.

Go to start click run type in cmd click OK
In the command window type in convert C /fs:ntfs
Where C is the drive letter you want to convert to NTFS.
It should work without a problem, but it does take a while.
Remember it is always a good idea to back up the drive just incase something happens

From the comand prompt :
convert c: / fd:NTFS
That should do it
You can also use disk management to this.
Control panel - Admin tools - Computer Management - select drives
from there right click the c drive. You should be able to convert from there.
Remember it is a one way process so you can not convert back to FAT(You would never do this unless you want to support legacy applications).
You can only do this in Windows 2000, XP not sure about VISTA.

Click start, run and then cmd. At the windows dos command type "convert c: /fs:ntfs" without quotes. You should get a message stating that you need to restart because the files are in use or something. It will then convert it at the next reboot. I dont recommend this if your hard disk is less than 20gb
