Change is good, however, when, what you speak of was written, it was written for that time period. If you start to change that, you might as well keep going. Besides, regarding longevity? The Social Security Administration beat you to it! Because we are living longer, they raised the benefit age from 55 to 67, I say some things should just be left alone. . . . I want to be able to walk on my own when I retire or at least live long enough to enjoy it!

Assuming the Bible to be written about 2007 years ago (more or less) it is interesting to note the 3 score and 10 when life span was probably only 40 years - it is still not much longer in many countries.

The UK life expectancy is 76 (male) - 81 (male), or there abouts (check in the cia world fact book for different ages around the world), so it should be Four score years.

Would you want to alter the bible depending on the country it is sold in? In Afghanistan, the life expectancy is 43, or 2 score years

If your health is good then I can think many things might be worthwhile to some people and preferable to death. Angela Lansbury was performing on Broadway last year at 84 or 85 years old and still enjoys it. People still have relationships, enjoy a good game of cards, enjoy getting out in nature, spending time with kids, grandkids, and maybe great-grandkids. So who is anyone to say that there is nothing more to live for or want to be alive for after a certain age. Depends on the individual. I hope I'm still doing my amateur astronomy projects, playing bridge, and hoisting a cocktail poolside (hopefully with my husband) long after 70 myself.

Probably, but don't even dream of suggesting editing the Bible! You will bring down all the Christian zealots upon yourself, and they can be vicious!
