I just had my IUD inserted on Thursday February 8. I experienced lots of cramping afterwards- as expected. Today is Monday and i am still experiencing very bad cramps. Should I still be cramping this bad? If not then what could be the problem?

I have had Mirena for over 7 months. I had no cramping with it at all. I had a very mild backache that lasted for a week. I would call the Dr office and talk to the nurse if I was you. I'm sure it should be letting up in the next day or two. I hope you can stick it out I love having it.

this is not usual for the mirena iud, mirena usually causes less pain with periods. the copper iud is well known for heavy painful periods. if you re having that much problems with it, just get it out now and go on the birth control pill- will make cramps very light

I have had mine for almost 3 years. The only time I get cramps is sometimes when its near that time of the month, in which I only spot. It may just be your body getting used to a new object being inserted. If it doesn't go away in a couple of weeks, you may want to call your gyno.

I had menstrual-like cramps for about a week. If it lasts much longer or if they are unusually intense, you should contact your doctor just to make sure everything is fine. Once you get over this, though, it is a wonderful form of birth control.

I hope this helps!
