Ok, lets all go back into history. The reason that they are so thick is because the original way that the McDonald brothers made there shake where the old fashioned way. With hand scooped ice cream, a little bit of milk, and syrup for flavor. Then they were hand mixed with a milk shake machine. Plain and simple that is an old fashioned milk shake.

Actually Mc Donalds has partnership with a charitable organisation for cardiologists and heart surgeons. They make their shake so thick and yummy that you just can't resist the tempation of devouring it. Thus Mc Donalds makes profit . And then when your arteries are blocked the doctors make profit by treating you. So Enjoy.

Any decision McDonald's makes in their products is the result of much time and money test marketing the item to make it sell. So the shake you're complaining about was probably the best they could come up with after testing on millions of human guinea pigs. Either that or the outlet you go to has a messed up shake machine.

They're more ice-cream shakes than milk shakes! It makes for a thicker shake and a more addictive one! The sugar rush you get doesn't last long and leaves you craving more sugar so you buy another shake! Ice-cream has a lot of fat and sugars to make it taste better and be creamy (we are not talking the Rolls-Royce of Ice-creams more a garage sale push-bike) I don't have them because I've heard too many stories about what the fat in the ice-cream is!

Cos they use ice cream in it so you gotta wait for it to melt a little first. Don't see the point of half their stuff its full of sugar fat and god knows what else and you can't suck their milk shake up the straw. Anyway gotta go, off for a Big Mac

how very picky of you! lol give it a minute and it will melt slightly to a more drinkable consistancy.. they're really thick at first because they're ice cold .. almost like ice cream when they first come out of the machine just to ensure it stays nice and cold for you by the time you sit down to eat it.. then it warms up slightly and then its easy to drink! It doesnt take much to work that out!

I think it is because they are very high in fat and sugar to make them tasty and addictive. I have been told (by a friend who used to work for McDonalds) that the thickening agent in the drinks is chicken fat. I am not certain if this is true but it put me off them as I am a vegetarian.

To give all of their staff a good laugh seeing some one going red in the face trying to suck it up using the straw. They've got to have something to laugh about
