10(-x-7)+20 = -5(2x+4)
-10x-70+20 = -10x+20

-10x+10x = 20 + 50

50=20. Whens solved you lose the variable x because -10 + 10 is 0. The answer is 50=20. That is what's left when the equation is solved.

expand it out
-10x -70 + 20 = -10x - 20

well we're sunk....when you add 10x to both sides you lose your variable
and then we are left with -50 = -20
