I have heard many supporters of Hillary say "We need a woman president." And I have heard many supporters of Obama say "We need a black president." In my oppinion those are racist and sexist remarks. What we need is a good president. Matbe one of those two are the best option but we shouldn't be voteing for them because of their race or gender. Am I wrong?

When phrased like that, you are absolutely correct. We should be looking for a leader with character, leadership, and experience. Whoever fills that bill will get my vote. I don't care if they are female, male, or green. We have to get beyond the stereotypes and move on as a nation.

Personally I have heard no one say, "Elect her because she's a woman," or, :make him President because he's black". Do you have links to specific examples?

What I DO read are a lot of statements about how the US will never accept a "black President" or a "woman President".

So to answer your question, anyone who votes for or against anyone (black woman, white man whatever) based on gender or skin color is racist or sexist.

My experience in dealing with such arguments (be they made by a conservative or a liberal) is that they are often rather difficult to break down, simply because there isn't really any substance for them to be broken down to. Try this for example: "Bill Gates is evil and destroying this country!!! Why does he hate the poor?" How would you break that sort of nonsense down, exactly? You can find some examples of his charity work, but the person who writes a rant like that is probably not going to be slowed down by what they'd see as a couple of "cherry picked" facts. And a phrase like "evil and destroying this country" is so vague that about all you can do to combat it is ask for examples, which again is not something the person making the claim is likely to respond to. So in the end, they're just left to go on believing their own nonsense all the more, because as they see it, nobody has managed to disprove them.

You are so right. If you look at history, democrats formed the Ku Klux Klan and opposed the Civil Rights Bill. Democrats have a long history of racism.

You r not wrong. People like Jesse Jackson like to use race to stir up crap. The feminist like to use gender to stir up crap. They can't look at what the candidate stands for, the just look at race and gender, even though their positions may be bad for the country ie raising taxes.

Yes. Its the same thing as your asking of this question. Its an attempt to convince others that you are not racist and sexist.

I think we need a black woman for president, so neither of those two fits that criteria.

Saying no to someone for their gender or race is wrong. Saying yes to someone after a couple hundred years is American.
Attacking poor people and immigrants is evidence someone is a coward and selfish. It means your Republican.
