Such crash diet will definitely work for as long as he restrains his eating habits, but as soon as he goes back to a normal diet, he will put on weight again. When someone restrains his daily caloric intake as much as your friends wants to do, his basal metabolic rate will also decrease rapidly, which means that when he starts eating as before the diet, this amount of food will be in excess for his body and he will gain weight again.

It would be better to increase the excercise, reducing fat and sugars, but keeping a balanced diet. It might not work as fast as his crash diet, but the results will stay for longer!

A young person should not need a crush diet, anyway!

He will probably get sick if that's all he eats/drinks for 2 solid weeks. He will be missing out on key nutrients and throw his body off-balance.

He would be far better off to limit his caloric intake to 1500 calories a day and walk at least 2 miles a day. He will experience weight loss if he does this, and it will be a healthy weight loss.

eat less - exercise more

by limiting your body to just one nutritional element,

you are not taking care of it - and coffee isn't nutritional

eat a balance 2 fruits - 3 veggies each day - with 4 oz of meat

that will lose weight
