Gore Vidal is 100% correct. Some prisoners at Gitmo have been held for 5 years without charge. An American journalist was jailed for 8 months without due process, and was tortured in IAbu Ghraib prison. He was going to sue Rumsfeld before Rumsy quit. Bush has stretched the limits of the Patriot Act, he wants to know what kind of books you check out at the library. He wants to wiretap your phone, and he wants to know what you "google" on the internet. A new report came out this weekend (2-9-07) that said the Pentagon admitted "altering" intelligence reports that Saddam was connected with al-Qaeda. Just on those few examples, you decide if Vidal is crazy or just a patriot who believes we all still have basic rights under the Constitution.
