You see a stranger fall to the floor (heart attack, maybe).

You have been trained to give CPR. He or she needs it - right now - BUT...

You see a huge herpes sore on his or her mouth.

What would you do?

Take a chance on saving a life, and possibly contracting herpes, or walk away, assured you will not be exposed to the virus?

I would help and take a chance in saving a life...If i walk away, I know I wouldn't be able to live with that for the rest of my life wondering " what if?"

Okay.. I would first have this plastic cover over my mouth, make a hole in it and then give that person CPR. So the chances of getting herpes is smaller than it would be without it. And i have to make sure i give CPR without making any contact to the mouth whatsoever. It's the best to save someone's life.. Right?

Have a nice day!

Place a cloth over the sore on the mouth,Then start CPR,A saved life is worth more than a curable virus..

The fact that he has herpes might also mean he has other things as well. I think it is one of those questions that we will not know the answer to until we are faced with the situation.

If you have been trained in CPR you would already be carrying a pocket mask which is made for sanitary purposes!

I would help them, all i'd have to do is put a plastic thing over their lips & put a small hole in it & still be able to give CPR......I'd save anyone! I just hope that they would be there for me!

I would give the compressions and hopefully someone else would be willing to give the breaths. If you give the compressions hard enough sometimes that will cause some oxygen to get into the lungs
