This is hard question with no easy answer. I would say 'yes and no' to having regretted loving somebody. Yes you can regret it because oftentimes with real loves comes a lot of pain, sometimes bad break-ups etc. One starts thinking 'why did I bother if it all ended so badly?'. Yet then again one can never appreciate true love without having gone through the pain of someone hurting you. Love is a great and powerful force and the greatest vindication is finding someone to love and them loving you back and treating you right.

What is regret?
Regret arises from memory. Something arises and we remember a past time which may be painful or pleasureable. If it was pleasureable we wish we could go back to that time and re experience it.
But if we look more closely we will notice that the separation between the past (back then when I experienced pleasure) and the the present (me here now not experiencing pleasure) is the true cause of our regret. It is our failure to appreciate what life is offering us at this moment that causes pain and conflict.
True happiness can only exist in this moment NOW. It does not exist in the past. It does not exist in memories. When one studys oneself closely one will gain self awareness and this leads to freedom from regret. We see that we are creating the regret. Regret is not a thing 'happening' to me. I am creating the regret now. I choose it. It is wonderful. There is no need to control it. It is. And yet you are free.

No, because each person that I have loved have brought some wonderful memories, and some great lessons about myself, life, and what is truly important.

I believe if you can grow from every situation then there is nothing to regret.

no, because even from the bad relationships, we grow. In having those experiences we learn how to have more positive fulfilling relationships, and appreciate the good that we didn't see/have before.
