What was it like? We have many here in NZ but not where I am. How does it feel? Pure panic?

Yes. it was 1969 in Japan. A 7.8 on the richter scale. I was 4 years old and remeber being in my mother's arms and seeing our white dodge jump around on the street like a ping pong ball. I was curiously terrified. I remember it so vividly and we practice earthquake drills in our house all the time.

I've been in a few small ones. I usually feel weird when it happens. Like I know whats happening but don't realise it. And at the same time its almost as if the air around you is actually shaking too. It an intriguing feeling. But then the earthquakes I've experience only lasted a few seconds. If it lasted longer, I would probably have freaked out! LOL.

Yes and it is not fun. We lived in Alaska and experienced many mostly in the middle of the night. One time I was dreaming that I was in a tornado because that is what I am use to I guess but I really thought I was going to die. When it happened during the day it was no big deal It was the night ones that brought pure panic

The only earthquake I have dealt with was one within my world. It must have been 8 or 9 on the scale cause it was a natural disaster, when your mind has an earthquake there is nowhere to run or hide.

Yes once in Jakarta Indonesia.... I saw all the furnitures moving, the ceiling lamps swaying, the chairs and tables really moving gradually from their place, trees and plants vibrating, the doors flapping around like there was a ghost there. I was not that panic because I was really thinking that I had a terrible dizzy or headache or something.... lol

I grew up in Chula Vista, California, yes, i've been through soooo many earthquakes, I've lost count! When I'm in an earthquake, I get sick. Earthquakes can be either a rolling one or jolting ones. I'd rather be in an earthquake than a tornado anyday!!!!!

The first one was quite a ride for me. I was in San Diego at the time and everything started shaking, I remember loosing focus then everything returned to normal except my heart was racing and I was trying to catch my breath. We would have slight tremors all the time but you got used to them.

I was in Ghana West Africa when it happened. It was a slight one but jolly scary all the same. Just moved things around but no breakages and no one was hurt.
