Different organizations have different practices. You should be prepared to show your transcripts and your gpa. Also, if you are a science major, for example, and your upper division gpa is 3.8 but your overall gpa is 3.2 due to general ed mediocrity, be prepared to point out, not the 3.2, but the 3.8.
You should also be prepared to describe which courses support your ability to be an asset to the company with whom you are applying.
When you refer to absences, I don't know what you mean unless you are talking about a semester off or a year off. In which case the employer won't care, but you should still be prepared to explain the breaks in your education in a positive light. If your absences make you a more interesting product to the company then use that to support your offer to be an asset to the company.

Most companies will not ask for transcripts. Many will ask for GPA and some -- particularly investment banks -- will ask for transcripts.
It is unlikely that your transcripts will have the number of absenses from class. It should have a list of classes that you took, the grade you got in each class and your GPA. Some schools also provide rank in class and rank in major.

Companies that hire right out of school only have limited information about a prospective employee and the most information they have access to...is your transcript.
The short answer is, YES. They will want to see your transcript. Companies won't care after 5 years when you have some professional experience under your belt.
Probably not the answer you want, but with so many recent graduates it will be competitive and your collegiate experience will matter.

Colleges don't report student absenses and it depends on the nature of the job you are looking to be employed in that they need to see a copy of your transcript(s). Most jobs only care (in private business) just want to know if you graduated.

It depends entirely on the position. It costs less than nine dollars for a company to pull your transcripts from any acredited college. That said, most small companies don't bother and most large companies will be more concerned with your experiences from smaller companies and internships.

yes, but they will size up your attitude and demeanor as soon as you walk in the room.
dress the part
act confident
stay sober and don't get familar with the interviewer
then they will judge your trascript with a Jaundiced eye..but it helps to have an Uncle or close friend give you a thumbs up.
And if your name is the same that is on the building then you are sure to be hired.

They can ask for you to provide a transcript. It'll show what grades you recieved in specific courses.....
