Okay, I'm only jumping in on this one because if you are indeed a smoker and pregnant, there is no reason for people to get you upset and worried (in a bad way). Yes, smoking can harm your baby. Mostly I hear that it effects birth weight, but it can also effect brain development and the baby's general health. However, I know many many many people that were born to smoking parents and are PERFECTLY fine.
To be clear, I do believe that it is absolutely best NOT to smoke while pregnant. I also believe that scaring pregnant women is not the way to make them stop. That is not good for the baby either. Education can be done without scaring and causing stress and fear.
Okay, I'll jump off of my soap box now :)

Just quit. Put your baby's needs before your own.
I cut down to 5 cigs a day, then 3. After that, I just quit. It helps if your not around cigarette smoke, so stay away from other smokers until your strong enough to say no.

smoking while pregnant has been liked to SIDS.. sudden infant death syndrome.. your child could die or have extremely bad allergies to name a few. All the chemicals from what you're smoking get into your blood and get into the babies blood. Your child could be born addicted to nicotine, which will mean with drawls and a lot of sleepless nights for you.

Yes, your baby can be born with breathing problems, low birth weight and a host of other problems. Don't be so selfish, find some kind of way to quit, is your baby's health worth it?

Please quit all together, is has been proved that smoking will effect the baby. Lower birth weight, lung and health problems have been shown to occur more frequently when the mother smokes.
