Most people can't handle the truth so don't want to go there, with this pathetic answer they can wash their hands of the situation without having to show any sign of caring or understanding.

Good question.
Like if you were reported by another person for doing something wrong like shoplifting or such and the person says that they must turn you in for your own good.
Or if you are fooling around with another man/woman and a friend (yeah some friend) says she is going to tell your boy/girl friend that you are fooling around for your own good.
These are some examples that can be used. In these cases, the first being that if you are charged and are fined or put in jail, you will learn from your mistakes and not do this again. Thus, that was for you own good.
The second case is that if you are treating your boy/girl friend like this by cheating behind their backs, you will never learn how to have a honest relationship thus you are found out for your own good. Your mate may leave you but you would have learned a lesson.
People always try to show you the right or proper way to do things. Some are subject to debate but as a whole, they usually right on the money when trying to teach you a lesson.
There will always comes a time when a person has to find out things for themselves and having someone pointing out things "For our own good" should not be done. Let the person learn on their own. Only in extreme times (when a person is trying to kill themselves) should a person butt in.
This, I hope answers you question.

people say things, but when you hear it, you have to decide to filter it to your brain or not..
i could be sitting in a room with everybody telling me different things to do.. but i would probably just pick up 4% of their words and the rest is just ignored through the ears and never travels to my brain for further thoughts..
so what im saying is.. dont take what they say seriously if its not worth being taken seriously from your point of view.

Becuase what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I dont understand. What if someone says its for your own good and then it does kill you, then are they gonna turn around and say it was for their own bad???
