I've been using Dial Antibacterial soap (my regular soap) during my whole pregnancy. Just wondering what kind of soap you all used. Did you all just keep using your regular soap or did you all feel the need to switch during pregnancy?

it is normal to use your regular soap, as the soap has nothing to do with pregnancy or the baby..

I have freakishly dry skin, so I use Aveeno, both before and during pregnancy. There's no need to switch unless you develop a reaction to what you're used to using.

To note, you actually don't need an antibacterial soap unless you have horrid body odor. If you plan on breastfeeding, don't use soap on your breasts, it can dry out your nipples, cause more irritation, and baby might not like the smell. Just rinse them well with clean water.

I used a basic natural olive oil based wash and added essential oils of lavender and rose geranium (antibacterial, skin soothing and healing) in very small amounts, as my skin turned very sensitive and itchy whilst pregnant. The everyday sodium laurel / laureth sulphate based body washes really irritated my skin and soap was the worst.

I have continued to use this since, as my skin improved significantly. I vary the essential oils used according to mood and benefit, and also use the products with essential oils of chamomile and lavender on my children.

I was told (by my doctor) never to use antibacterial soaps as they also destroy the natural bacteria your skin needs, and they can also change the Ph value of your vagina and thus cause thrush.

Yes totally normal. Because your breast produce milk it causes the skin to stretch. That makes veins more apparent and itch a bit too. If your skin is more on the pale side and you don't like seeing the veins you can use a self tanning lotion. I wouldn't recommend tanning because uv damage is very unhealthy. Plus lotion will soften the skin making it easier to stretch and cause less itch. If you still feel alarmed, go to the doctor and ask them. Since you are pregnant you should be going rather frequently for check ups and such, just ask!

I used a moisturizing soap because my skin always felt dry and I was hoping to keep stretch marks at bay.

I just used my same old bath wash. However, I did use baby oil and a scrub (I used a dead sea salt scrub, but any will work) on my belly to keep stretch marks away. It worked for me.
