Sometimes I've had dreams where everything seemed to be so absolutely focussed that I think they were sharper than I can physically see (eyes are good, dream sight 25/20.)

Same with color dreams. More vibrant, more intense than I could say I have percieved.

Is the mind having fun or what? How about yours?

All views of reality are in fact synthesized from information taken in somewhat crude sense organ responses so the most clear and least distorted "view" would be those created entirely by the source of all your perceptions itself, the brain.
For example sound is interpreted by the brain to give detailed experiences of tone, harmonics, phase, acoustic environment, position in time and space and the nature of the sound generator such as musical instrument or a falling tree in a forest derived from very low quality information presented by the inner. By low quality, it means low frequency mechanical vibrations can not contain much information, yet the brain can synthesize a very detailed rich perception of the sound source and the listeners position in relationship to it. Other senses monitoring the world external to our minds have other limitations as to their accuracy and resolution of information, but the brain handles that task of creating a detailed perception of the sources very well. So by this reason, perceptions generated by the brain directly( dreams), without outside information can have less noise or inappropriate information which add distortion to the brains creative output. The most pure form of perception can be argued then to be in the dream state.

No,not that I've noticed,in fact if anything mine are duller and maybe even blurry (I have perfect vision when awake, not sure if it's relevant)..even when they're fresh in my mind they seem foggy..BUT, I feel emotions much more intensely and sharply than I would awake, things that would barely bother me break my heart in a dream! Strange...

I've had that too, but take in account I wear glasses. I don't think it's your mind having fun exactly, but having more to do with your memory and actual vision.

More vibrant colors? Yes, definitely.
