Interesting, can't wait to see someof the answers, because I don't know. But, I drink ice tea from the time I get up til I go to bed and have never wiped the ice cubes in a towel before putting them in my tea!

Because some people liker dry ice! A similar habit is to have Fried ice cream..

When you get the cubes out of the freezer, they are very sticky. When you put them under water, they don't stick so much.
