Decorate walls with posters of your parents' pictures depicting important milestones in chronological order such as the engagement, wedding, arrival of first born, first thanksgiving or christmas with baby, baby's first birthday, baby's first day out and all the good old days (let your creativity flow). Not only would these fascinate your guests but your parents as well because our elders tend to remember more of their younger days than the very recent past. And that would motivate them to reminisce their younger years, spark a conversation and maybe talk endlessly!

For party favors, I suggest you go for the gold-plated (golden anniversary) heart-shaped (celebration of love) "Love Without Measure" (the greatest measure is to love without measure by Ralph Waldo Emerson) measuring spoons which you can find in your local store. Decorate with organza, ribbon, tag (truly a labor of love). If you don't have the luxury of time, you can check out http://www.americanbridal.com/measuring-spoon-ka7800.html.

For party games, I suggest the "Q & A game" which encourages guests participation and raise the level of bonding and awareness. Prepare a list of questions on important events, dates and places, e.g. how and where they met; their first dance, when and where they tied the knot; where they started a family; birth of first born; first graduate in the family; birth of first grandchild; employment history; retirement year; favorites such as food, music, place to hang out; and all important family events (refer to pics in posters in the first paragraph). This is also one way of learning more about the family.

Remember how blessed you are to have this golden opportunity, so fill this occasion with precious and priceless memories for the whole family and guests to look back and cherish for the years to come.

Good luck and have fun!

There's always the age-old idea of taking pictures starting from the day they got married (or pictures of before they were married if they have any!) and put a picture depicting each year they've been together and create a montage/collage of their life together.

As far as favors go, you can never, ever go wrong with Yankee Candle favors. You can purchase the little votive candles and have a custom wrapped in place of the traditional Yankee Candle logo. I've always thought they were wonderful as favors because you can have any kind of theme you want! Birthdays, anniversaries, in memory, graduation, etc.

Click the link and then select "Custom Votives" http://www.yankeecandle.com/cgi-bin/ycbvp/cfg_index.jsp

If it hasn't been done already, select a music lineup of songs they used to dance to, or the song they danced to at their wedding.

Put together a poster with images of their life together and announcing the celebration. Put together a timeline poster marking important milestones with their family. Put together a video interviewing people who know and cherish them. Have fun!
