you curl first because the curler would smudge the mascara

Technically, you're suppose to put mascara on AFTER. Doing so will hold the curl longer since when the mascara dries, it will hold the curl into place. Also, if you apply the mascara first, you run the risk of the lashes getting stuck tot the curler and breaking some eyelashes (ow!). To be honest, I do it both ways, whatever I'm in the mood for. Another great tip is to heat the curler just slightly (test on fingertips first to make sure it's not too hot!) and then the heat really curls the lashes great!

You put your mascara on after you curl your eyelashes. What you should do is start at the base of your lashes with the eyelash curler and hold for five seconds after that move the eyelash curler up and hold for another five seconds repeat until you get to the end of your eyelashes. This really gives a nice curl and holds all day once you apply your mascara.

Girl!!
How glad am I that u asked that. Looking from a scientific angle, and realizing exectly what the average mascara contains, NO.
If u have to curl ur lashes, do so, but only after they're clean. Last nights makeup, the day's sweat, even natural oils developing on then combined with a lash curler is not good for them at all.

See, eyelashes are not that different from normal hair. If you have ever watched tv you'ld remember those shampoo ads where they show the hairstran upclose. There where the "shampoo goes in", those little open lids, well, they're called folicles. If they're open and theres some stuff underneath them, and u squeez them flat. What do you think wil happen. Have u ever tried to close the closet door when the closet is overfull. The hinges break and the whole thing either becomes wonkly or just breaks claen of.

Same with the lashes. But instead of just the folicle breaking, in time the whole hair goes and breaks at the weakest point.
What's worse, is that, if you damage ur lashes to much, ur body starts thinking u don't need them and will stop growing them back.

Don't EVER curl ur lashes with ANYTHING on them.
You';; end up looking like a whore when u have to buy fake lashes at 30.

curl first, mascara after. otherwise you get all mascara goop in the curler and it pulls out ur lashes and its unhygenic! lots of people say mascara firstbecause some find it stays better but its not a good idea. also, i find that curling your eyelashes everyday makes a few more fall out than normal,

its more cleanly, for lack of a better word, for mascara to be put on after you curl your eyelashes. youll have to clean your eyelash curler every time if you apply before. if you dont, bacteria will build up and this could lead to eye infections. [which are NEVER a good thing]

After. The curler can smudge the mascara onto your face and give your eyelashes an uneven look. You want the application to be even.

I don't think it matters. I curl... put on my mascara....let it dry for a minute...then I curl again. Yeah, you will have to wipe your curler off but that's not hard to do.

it is always best to curl the lashes first before putting the mascara.
curling the lashes after putting the mascara can lead to breaking of the lashes. you don't want that to happen right? ^_^
