As with every innovation that Nintendo has brought to the console gaming industry, the Wii is not a Gimmick it is the first step in a revolution of gameplay. They have taken the approach that perhaps graphics are no the only way to improve a game system, and so this year their system has slightly improved graphics over the Gamecube and a completely different setup that Microsoft and Sony, who went for the same old gameplay with HD graphics. It is paying off so far, as Nintendo is selling out of Wii's and outselling the industries top dog at the moment, Sony, in both the console and the handheld market.

As a side note, only those who are blinded by Sony's excessive adult oriented marketing think that Nintendo is only for families and kids. Rockstar is bringing Manhunt 2 to the Wii, one of the goriest franchises of all time, just to name one. Does that sound like family entertainment? As always, Nintendo has games for everyone and refuses to leave kids in the dust with crappy half baked titles like Sony and Microsoft do, and even though these brands them a kids company when they are not, i applaud them for it.

I was at a party saturday and was quite intoxicated and my friend whips out a Nintendo Wii from his bedroom and hooks it up to the big screen in the den and we started bowling and playing wario ware.. it's kinda like mario party I guess.. I have to say it was the most fun I've had in a long long time... On top of all that using the Wii you can play a lot of the past games from nintendo that you used to love so much.. I have to say I was skeptical about the Wii until I played it for myself.. but I loved it. It's in a class all it's own. You can't compare it to the Xbox360 or PS3

It's fun to play when the games are built for multi-player, but it's a boring gimmick for games that are for single player only. The Wii-mote and nunchuck doesn't really add anything to Twilight Princess. The same effect can be achieved with a normal controller. But with Wii-sports, it's really fun when you're competing against someone, and the Wii-mote does add a lot to the game.

My friend has played LoZ Twilight Princess and the new RayMan game and he's addicted to both of them.

People call it a gimmick but it's just a new way of playing games, it's actually pretty fun for games of all genres... You can aim better in FPS games with the Wiimote than you can with a joystick on a traditional controller, for racing games, you turn the Wiimote sideways and it acts like a steering wheel.

Simple stuff but fun at the same time.

EDIT: I see people talk about "jumping around" and moving, and you really don't have to if you don't want to. My friend can play while laying down, although your arm does get quite the workout.

We bought the Nintendo WII just before Christmas . I would recommend it for family fun as it energetic and a laugh a minute. Word of warning though watch out for flying arm and legs as it can be very physical.

I don't think it's a boring gimmick as it can involve the full family . I don't recommend it for serious games players those who like their PlayStation and xbox as it not a couch potato console :)

Well worth buying for hours of fun and laughter.

Nintendo are always good at coming up with new ideas for gaming, for example the touch screen on the DS, but the problem comes when making games for it, there are only a few games that can work well on it. In general, there will not be many games that fully utilise the Wii's features, but if u can find the ones that do, they will be amazing.

i consider myself a gamer, and i love the Wii. Example, Zelda on the wii is amazing, so easy to use, just little flicks of the wrist draw and use your sword then you hit the trigger button to pull out your bow and point and shoot, soooo much easy to use the bow in this zelda then in the previous ones. As for taking up a lot of energy to play, most games you can play with a flick of the wrist, the only ones that'll get you up and about are the party games, but zelda is awesome for vegging during some late night play sessions. But i haven't really played too many other games for the system yet so i can't say about the rest.

I LOVE MY WII!!!! I am completely addicted. I play for hours every day. The next morning my arms are sore but I still turn my wii back on for more. I love wii sports, Legend of Zelda: twilight princess, and I like monkey ball too, its fun. But I'm dying to get Warioware smooth moves, that's the next game I'm going to buy. And I can't wait for super smash bros. brawl and Mario galaxy, and fire emblem. The wii is much better than the 360 and the PS3.

It's a gimmick. If it lasts about a year I will start to say maybe it is a good play as well.

To me its a great console to have as a family, but for your serious or pro gamer its a waste of time. The games will be fun with a few people joining in, but waving your arms around and jumping in front of your TV at 2am is not really my idea of fun. I like to chill and relax and get into my games.
