Ridiculous story lines, big shoulder pads, the main man getting killed 3 times, smutty moments and a flying saucer at the conclusion.

great writing, great acting, good looking folks, gorgeous outfits, and sometime believable story lines. Of the soaps today, check out the acting abilities of Young and Restless and Bold and Beautiful. back in the day, all my children and one life to live were standard in acting abilities. some of those good actors are gone and we are left with stand and model performers. I do admire the actors of the soaps though.

Good storylines - the kind you just want more of. Like a good book you can't put down. And then there's a twist. Of course good acting helps. And a little humor doesn't hurt either.
