I know Country music is more popular than ever Vaughn, but this was not the Lrgest seeling Album for the Chix and yeilded less airplay. Hence the Question, When was the LAst Country Album that got this level of Grammy? And Bert it is Politics because I believe it was pure Politics. There is already a country catagory at the Grammys and a lack luster country album took top Honors? And yes Bert the Dizzy chix have more awards than me.

Grammys aren't very important - none of the awards except possibly Oscars are - but "Taking the Long Way" is a really good CD, and "Not Ready to Make Nice" was a talented and successful counterattack against the anti-American right-wing terrorists who keep threatening us.

I bought the CD, and I bought the earlier CD, and if the country music people abandoned the Dixie Chicks over the Bush comments, I can only wonder whose side the country music people are on. Americans do not support Bush, and people attacking the Dixie Chicks over Maine's comment are welcome to move to Afghanistan and live with their Taliban buddies.

For those of you who haven't heard it, "Taking the Long Way" is a really good CD, and it doesn't have that godawful Las Vegas-ized country music sound to it at all. If you're thinking "I wouldn't mind hearing it, but I don't like country music", give it a shot. I was very pleasantly surprised. I later bought the previous CD (Top of the World), and that one took more getting used to, as it was quite a bit more "country", though it is growing on me as well. But definitely get "Taking the Long Way": it's a wonderful CD.

I sure wish entertainers would stay away from politics. I listen to music, go to movies, watch TV., etc. to get away from that stuff. Entertainers need to shut up and do what they're paid to do because 99.9% don't know what their talking about anyway.

I did not buy the CD but i've listened to it. It is OK, but not as good as some of their past CD's. JMO. And yes, I do think the Chix have heavy liberal support. Birds of a feather...

Let's stick to the facts: I'm not a fan of country or the music of the Dixie Chicks, but I do see that their album is #4 at Amazon. people are buying that album. Norah Jones and John Mayer lead the pack

Of course. Same-ole, same-ole. The Hollywonks did what the media always does when someone challenges their BS --they circle the wagons. The truth remains, the dizzy chix had to cancel numerous concerts last year because tickets weren't selling. They repeatedly get booed and often meet with picket signs.

isnt it possible they just won because the music is good? I dont really know because I dont own any Dixie Chicks music Im not into coutnry stuff, but apparently that liberally biased media will stop at NOTHING to embarrass Bush, huh? But I suppose them just be talented singers with the help of talented producers is a little too hard to understand.

No Vaughn they won FIVE Grammys, which Im sure is 5 more than Thor has won.

Shouldn't this be in the "Music" section of YA?

Good for you Dixie Chicks (not a fan but Ill support anyone who is brave enough to protest)

Actually, the Dixie Chicks' music is more popular than ever, especially "I'm Not Ready to Make Nice." Even people who don't listen to country became aware of them, thanks to the wailing of conservatives who can't seem to remember that in the USA, dissent is the highest form of patriotism.

The chicks got a Grammy? Good for them.

Yes it was and to call them brave is like going to church and praying to Hanoi Jane. They played on TV because nobody will buy their tickets. And I don't waste money on American hating trash like them.

Never listened to them, and due to their behavior, never will. The only one I think I can deal with is the fat chick's husband.
