1. The Government Officials of any department caught taking Bribe are mearly let off after a departmental action and minor penalisation, which does not detter them from comitting the crime again.
2. As a policy the Govt should introduce new law whereby a Govt Official caught taking Bribe should be dismissed from service for misusing his official position and his pay and allowances be deposited in Govt Treasury as penalty for the crime to public. It will act as detarance to all.

As per the law a person who gives bribe is equally guilty. So when you think of giving strong punishment to the govt. official who is caught accepting bribe, you should also think about giving same amount of punishment to the person who is offering bribe.
It is two way force. You can not stop this attitude with stopping only one way force. You have to stop botht he ways.

They are dismissed from service if found guilty of accepting bribe. The bribe givers should also be punished. These are the people who spoil our system by bestowing extra benefits to officials for discharging their duties. These bribe givers are proud of their connection with Government Agencies, with whose help they steal their competitors confidential details. Further obtaining permission to prosecute corrupt officials is a tedious job. This provision is to be abolished.

may be in govt they are looking for some parity with pvt sector pay scales [which have increased exponentially]. plus cost of living affects all of us. that does not mean you should take bribes. In govt these steps have to be taken at the top. when the top itself is currupt, it becomes a norm and others follow. May be there are more pay commission increases on the cards.

The govt officials should not only b dismissed and his pay and allowance deposited but he should also b given rigorous imprisonment for 6 months like other civilians. After all they are also civilians like others.
