You really need to learn the differences (and relationships) between force, work, energy, acceleration (and deceleration), and time so that you don't embarrass yourself when you ask questions.

It takes exactly the same amount of work to stop a ball as it takes to throw it (neglecting air resistance or other frictional losses).
