Basically I was thinking that I could get two panes of glass and run water down the middle with some sort of pump that reuses the water. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks

her is what i would do, you are pretty much on the same wavelength. get the pump, maybe one you can adjust for different levels of rain....whatever. use a perforated and capped off pvc pipe to make the rain. you may want to install some time of water powered wheel inside it that cuts the water on and off, making drops rather than a steady stream. use a U shaped pvc channel at the bottom to catch the water, and run a piece of pipe to some sort of catch can. a sealed system will be best. dang it's hard to describe in mere words. anyway you will want to experiment with the size of holes in the pipe that it comes out. maybe vary them.

Yep!

Quite easy to do - you need a trough - a small fish tank pump - a frame to support the glass and allow the pipes to be hidden - And some brackets to support and fix to wall!

Build the framework (pref aluminium) leaving the bottom section open - to allow water to escape - silicon seal the remaing frame to glass - and away you go - well - not quite that simple but you get the drift

I would look into the possibility of converting an indoor fountain pump to move water through a double glazed window. This might achieve the effect you are looking for.
