It may be a combination of three different quotes all of which are common motos used thought recent history and are modern day versions of those used in the past. Sonic the hedgehog just lumped them together!

It sounds like Benjamin Franklin, really. I have no idea if that was him or not but it could have been, I'm sure. Didn't Daddy pin it on the wall so you had to see it every morning on waking up? A friend of mine's mom did just that. You can imagine my friend's feelings on seeing the quotation every time his eyes fell upon that particular section of the wall. He ended up covering it with a pic of Samantha Fox.

I have a sneaky suspicion it was an athlete and fairly recent at that. I don't know who though, sorry. I feel it may be a runner, a sprinter specifically. Just a hunch...
