(obsessive compulsive disorder). Is it a common problem? and why?

I don't really know very much about obsessive compulsive disorder. I think that everybody suffers from some degree of it. But I don't know why.

More common than you would think. But most of it goes undiagnosed, as peoples behaviours are ignored or classified as eccentricities.

Depending on the severity of the symptoms, and what they are doing (what they are obsessive compulsive about) most can lead fulfilled lives. i think some types are treated with a mild medication, but you may get more help from a qualified medico.

Why? I don't know... Why are people schizophrenic, why do they get cancer? Who knows?
