You’re in luck: your N73 will run the new Yahoo! Go - definitely the best way to experience Yahoo! Mail on a phone. It’s designed to make your email easy to read, allow you to perform most common tasks like replying/composing/deleting with a single click, and let you search your entire inbox to find specific messages. And it’s in sync with your Yahoo! web account – so anything you do on your phone (e.g. delete an email) is reflected there, too, and vice versa. To get it, go to http://uk.mobile.yahoo.com/go .
Yahoo! Go also comes with other features like news, sports scores, Flickr photo sharing, and oneSearch – prob the best way out there to get the instant answers you need when on the go.
As for Hotmail, you can get the best experience using Windows Live, which works on Windows Mobile phones. Unfortunately the N73 isn’t one. Go to mobile.msn.com to learn of other options.

I also have an Nokia N73 its a cracking phone. I'm on 3uk and i pay an extra £5 per month to use a product called xseries which gives me unlimited internet access. If you download yahoo go you can access your yahoo emails you can also get an alert set up to let you know theres a new email waiting. Also if you download opera mini you can bookmark hotmail. On 3 theres an application called 3mail its supposed to work with all email servers but not hotmail, opera mini also lets you browse the internet and it converts the page to make it readable on your phone. I often use my n73 to read and reply to yahoo answers.

By far the easiest way is to use Yahoo Go on your mobile - it means you can actually sync up live with your mail on the move from your phone - and use stuff like flickr, get news updates - live maps...pretty cool basically. take a look at http://mobile.yahoo.com/go
for hotmail.....i thik just logging in via wap is the best bet but not sure.

Yahoo is dead easy - on the Nokia get a WAP session going and then "Navagate to" and enter
wap.yahoo.co.uk
then you will open Yahoo Mobile page on the phone and you can select Mail and sign in
Hope it helps
