I have preordered a couple of PS3s and am wondering if there is actually going to be much demand for them? Considering stores like GAME are still taking deposits and have been for 3 days now, I'm worried that they aren't going to be that popular and I'll end up making a loss...

I guess we'll really know how popular they are when we see how long it takes them to sell out on Amazon in a few days.

So I'm assuming you are from a country just getting them.

Well more then likely your country is full of PS3s shipped from the US, because though they were in "high demand" here, we have plenty of them now, so the shortage wasn't great. Plus I have heard mediocre to decent reviews, nothing outstanding, so my best bet for you...is no.

OH almost forgot, they use Bluray, which is yet to be a completely refined technology, there are still several reports of PS3 blurays overheating due to the drive, (several samsung bluray players do this as well) so WAIT

Always wait to buy a console till the 2nd or 3rd generations are released (usually 5-7 months after initial launch)

examples: PS2, Xbox 360

I dont think that you will make huge profits on the console by selling it on ebay.

Whilst the ps3 is an amazing console, many people are already put off by the cost of the machine. Anybody who is desperate to have one can already pre-order any bundle they want and have been able to do so for a week now.

I remember trying to get a pre-order for the XBOX360 and found it impossible, however, at the moment I can still pre-order the PS3 from all the main websites.

Dont expect the same difficulites to get your hands on one as the Wii. The Wii is still near impossible to get hold of one (Globally) however the prices on ebay are not that inflated. The ps3 is hard to get hold of, but in some states in America, the ps3 is readily availible.

I also believe that Nintendo have sold around 700,000 Wii units so far in europe and Sony is shipping 1 million PS3's to europe but dont take that is cast in stone i maybe wrong.

The PS3s are everywhere in stores, there is no high demand for them, at least in my area. They are overpriced, may still have bugs, and have a low selection of games. In my opinion, you should have bought some Wii's. They are great, affordable and sold out most everywhere, I finally got one. So what I have seen so far, is that PS3s are sitting on shelves at Best Buy and Walmart, and Wiis are hard to find and sold out. Good Luck

IM assuming your U.K? demand yes, supply no.

I worked the PS2 launch when it was pre order only, and only one to a household (that was sony, NOT the stores) and I can see this one coming in as a chunk of ill will towards towards the poor till guy who cant sell what he aint got.
If you buying them for profitten you should place as many pre orders as possible in different stores as possible becuase one in three wont make it, Your guy at Game will probably get 4, sell you 1 casue he has other people to placate. If you got a porblem with that then frankly I got a limited editiojn dreamcast you can have.
You might want to sell you pre-orderslip instead

I think are very revolutionary the changes for the PS3 is pretty similar to a computer, but i know is much more powerful in graphics, sound, etc.
But if want to buy PS3 i would have waited a little more, because the best games are still in creation, i know will be 2 final fantasy XIII for ps3 and other great games.

That's the risk you take when profiteering, I'm afraid.
