The Oil Industry began over 5000 years ago.In the Middle East oil seeps was used in waterproofing boats and baskets, in paints and lighting. The modern oil era began in northwest Pennsylvania in the mid-19th century.The demand for oil was not great.
In 1904 an Armenian businessman, Calouste Gulbenkian reported to the Turkish Sultan Abdukhamid on the oil potential of the Turkish province of Iraq. In 1914 the Irak Petroleum Company (IPC) was formed with capital coming from British and Dutch Companies. In 1928, IPC was redivided : 5% to Gulbenkian, 95% were shared equally between the British (BP), the Dutch (Shell) the French (CFP) and the Americans EXXON and Mobil.
In 1932 Socal (Chevron) struck oil in Bahrain. 1938 marked the major turning point in Middle east oil industry. Gulf and BP Discovered oil in Kuwait and Chevron discovered oil in Saudi Arabia. On that time oil companies had to pay for the local Governments, the Kings or Emires a unique tax called royal tee, the company take all the production. Oil companies made a lot of money until the first oil crisis in 1973.

there's many of them...they are now the powerful oil cartel - OPEC organisation of petroleum exporting countries, they controll the prices of oil at their will, this make them responsible for the doubling of oil prices recently...most if not all of the members of OPEC have a nationalised oil industry, this means that their respective government owned and control the oil.

its an organisation of oil producing countries called OPEC who look after the quantity of oil taken out each day.
the workers and all are paid by the individual countries.
why should some one else pay??

Oil companies are looking everywhere for more oil...... Refineries will be build where needed. geologists are the ones who find it.
