A serial port has an output of less than 2mA, correct ? But does anyone know what the power output of a USB port is ?

Of course Amps are current, power is measured in Watts.

Most USB ports are 500mA @ 5V, or 2.5 W

I think from memory a MAXIMUM of 500ma but that depends on how many devices you have plugged into the same port.

That depends on the motherboard .. Could be 1.0 could be 1.1 or could be 2.0 ... between 100mA and 500mA ..How old is your m/b ?

USB means ulter supply board it supply the power to the computer
