For blood it doesn't matter. The hormone is going to stay at a relatively consistent level throughout the day...although it will rise quickly as pregnancy progresses. You might be thinking of urine. Urine is more concentrated in the morning after you've just waken up so it would theoretically be a better specimen for a pregnancy test. However, the hormone that's tested for is quickly eliminated into the urine so at any given time blood or urine will produce a comparable result.

If you don't have a blood test specifically for pregnancy, however if you have a blood test to check your hormone levels - then yes the pregnancy would show up due to the change in the hcg levels. This is how my first pregnancy was confirmed - they were testing my thyroid and hormone levels and the pregnancy was found this way.

It does not matter when they draw your blood for a pregnancy test. A blood test will show if you are 7 days following conception.

For pregnancy test, urine is required (and not blood). The first urine a woman passes in the day (morning) will have to be accumulated in a pre sterilized bottle after allowing few drops of urine to pass away. The person should be told to test the urine for pregnancy test (urine is accumulated to test one's diabetes also).

Good luck.
