I used to feel that way until recently. My son suffers from severe allergies to humidity and mites, and has an open stomach. Because of this he used to get bronchitis at LEAST every other month. And every night after he went to sleep he'd start coughing so much that he'd wake up and throw up. Then he'd spend the next hour coughing before he could go back to sleep. He was taking allergy medications, medicine to help empty his stomach faster, he had two different inhalers, cough medication - and he's not even 5 yet!
Then at the end of January my husband started giving our son Kombucha tea twice a day. Kombucha Tea contains Live Enzymes. Enzymes are crucial for proper digestion, absorption of vital nutrients, and all other functions of the body. It helps prevent disease through the strengthening of the immune system and by supplying the body with easily absorbed nutrients. It slows or even reverses aging by removing toxins, while strengthening and increasing the number of disease-fighting agents in the body, and it removes heavy metals from the body.
The same day that we started giving it to my son, my son hasn't coughed at all by night, he hasn't thrown up, and he hasn't had bronchitis. He doesn't need to use his inhalers or his allergy medications anymore either.
To me, this truly is a miracle drink! I wrote a blog on it that you are welcome to read:

some of this is due to lack of success due to poor herb quality..manty herbs are bought cheaply at third world countries where ddt and toxic materials are used and human sweage etc and many herbs are irradiated. By the time we get them even if they are organic, they are depleted of most of their pytochemicals that prevent and cure diseeases. Also capsules which is how most people take herbs are not easily absorbed,
Organic and wild crafted (in the wllds) herbs are 7 - 10 times higher in the pytochemicals than conventyional herbs.
Use a tincture for best absorbtion.
People have been brainwashed to believe doctors know everything. They generally roundly poopoo natural treatments which they know nothing about and have no personal experiece with. They are not trained or learned about natural treatments unless they do this on their own, often knowing less than the average person on the street. Drug companies suite them from the start. Doctors read primarily from medical library journals that blacklist natural, inexpensive, nontoxic treatments that studies show work due to the massive amount of pharmaceutical ads supporting the magazine. If they publish these therapies, the drub companies pull out advertising dollaras often folring the magazine.
The person needs the intelligence o seek out the comprehensive treatments for their disorder, the courage to do them, and the belief that they are superior. It have 100% faith in herbs and rarely use drugs or doctors..
Food is very imprtant in healing too, Back in the 20's when xrays came out and people felt it was a lucritive, money making endeavor, the AMA which was a small trade group at the time began to make quack files with names of oher healers klike homeopaths and naturpaths and only a few were grandfathered in..this quack connotation keeps people fearful and keeps the mney rolling in. The last thing the drug and medical companies want is people getting cured with cheap effective remedies that do not involve them..they have to eat you know..also there are some quacks and crooks out there too in the alternative field that damage the reputations of the real ones.
Natural healing is extremely effective going to the root cause and not the symptoms which doctors often call a disease. Also they are safe for the body and organically compatiable. God's perfection versus man's impection. Alternative health has been around for eons too, unlike allopathic medicine of about 100 years.
Also
dr. schulze says people want to think they are an unlucky victim and do little work..just say dr, please heal me..if they practiced alternative health, they would have to do the work of healing..they woud have to take responsibility for thier liefstyle choices that made them sick. thy would have to change. Those that look for an herb to take instead of doing a comprehensive programs of herbs, exercise, foods, stress reduction, good air, etc. This involves a lot o work and they like their pepsi, alcohol, cigaretts,, seditary lifestyle, etc too much.

The Pharmaceutical companies just about own the governments and through them they have had a great time over the last 100 years with all sorts of propaganda aimed at taking people away from natural (claiming that if its natura you can't guarantee the quality and quantity of the product) and guided them towards the artifical so they can make nice big profits. Just look at the news most nights you'll hear an item on how 'Doctors discover vitamin *** does this for your health" I bet if you asked any Natural Therapist about the same information, they would relpy with "yep, we have been using that for that for years"

I do believe in the power if natural remedies, but I think some things need serious medical attention. I think it is best to use natural alternatives with western medicine. I knew a couple who the wife had cancer and they decided to just rely on herbs and diet, etc. and she died rather quickly. I do not know why nature can heal some things and not others, perhaps it is some laid out plan. I have asthma pretty bad and have seen how much better the quality of my life is from my medications in comparison to my father who never believed in taking all those prescribed medicines. Or to my grandma who made it through breast cancer.

natural/alternatives should be used along with Western meds neither should limit the other. my may problem with natural meds is that there is little regulation on the claims they make, proof they have to show to back those claim and the consistency of the potency. I grew up around people who use nature and traditional med. I use a DO as my doc because is not as apt to right a pill for cover a problem he looks in the root of the problem like when I had shoulder pain I got anti inflammatory and was told to rest it. When that didn't help he sent to physical therapist after the test came back with no bone or cartilage problems.

Well, to all thier own, you know?
Most Westerners believe only in what can be measured. If you take a analgesic (like tylenol), you know exactly what is happening, pain receptors between neurons are getting blocked so you don't feel the headache.
A lot of natural cures invlove a leap of faith. People saying "I tried this and it worked", or "It worked for someone I know". Yet there is no scientific explanation. There are no FDA studies that prove a claim.
I think if a study was done by a legit group, natural cures could gain more credibility.

These people have been conditioned to give those responses. Lord knows I get enough of them!!
People who think for themselves are going to move over to alternative ways of medicating when the traditional drugs (medications same thing) have left us alone and still not well.
Most doctors are all to happy to write another prescription.
There are more and more doctors getting onto the natural alternative band wagon. Though there are some out there who have always been on the band wagon, just the government keeps knocking them down.
Now the people are speaking and alternative medications are getting more and more popular. Now if the federal government would keep there noses out of the states business we will be fine.
Those of us who want this way, or those of us who find traditional medications not working have to stick together if change is going to be more prominent. We are voters and we our running this country.
If herbs are working stick to what you believe in! They are working for me!

people who think that it is a crock are just narrow minded and only believe what they hear from the doctor, or the FDA. You've never heard of someone overdosing on tea leaves or ginger root. Besides we as a people didn't happen to need so much medicine until we introduced so many chemicals and artificial foods into our bodies.

because the big manufacturers who use lots and lots of chemicals (because they are cheap) bombard us with false information thru all types of media. Unfortunately most people believe what they hear without checking the source - just because these companies have been doing business for years doesn't mean they have our best interests at heart, their bottom line is the $$$ they can bring in. In fact most households today contain 60 toxic chemicals(leaching from store brand cleaners, laundry products, skin care and cosmetics, etc.) here's a great link to show your friends http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-36902703019080033&q=cbc+toxic+brew

It's because they feel more convinced when treated by a medical doctor. They feel that the pills the doctor prescribes will help them.
As for myself, I prefer to take care of myself with vitamins. There are vitamins available for just about anything, except a broken bone. It is nice to hear my doc say, "I don't know what you are doing, but don't stop." He is referring to the vitamins I take.
