Bones are both living and nonliving. The living portion (organic) is mostly the protein collagen for flexibility. The nonliving (inorganic) is mostly hydroxyapatite - a calcium-phosphate salt - for compressive strength.

Bones are PARTS of living things. Bones have live cells in them and bones can grow and heal. However, bones are not alive on their own, separate from the whole organism.

they are living, because they have cell tissue in the marrow.
