East Coaster has something wrong in his statement. Do people here not follow the news and the economics behind it? East Coaster talks about taking the dollars away from America. Iran cut dollar transactions to a minimum long ago and at the end of 2006 began trading their oil in Euros.
It is trading oil in Euros that led to the Iraq war. Saddam did the same thing in 2000 when the Euro was floated for all market transactions. This trading in Euros hurts the US economy.
I'll explain. When oil is traded in dollars it forces countries who want oil to trade with the US i.e. sell goods to the US to get dollars. The US prints dollars for next to nothing and they are the only country that can do so. Thus when the US gives dollars (which are cheap to print) for goods (TVS, cars etc which are expensive) they are essentially getting something for next to nothing. Imagine if you could simply hit print on your computer and the printer would spit out a $100 bill. What has it cost you to do this? A few cents. With that $100 bill you can buy goods which are worth much more than you have just spent. This is how the US economy is working and why the US runs a 48% trade deficit - importing 48% more goods than it exports.
When countries trade their oil in Euros, like Iran is doing, like Iraq did and like Venezuela want to do, then the dollar demand drops and so to does the US ability to import goods cheaply. People will turn to Euro for trading.
The oil itself in the Middle East is not the problem. The US imports a relatively small proportion of its oil from the Middle East. It is how that oil is sold that is the problem. The dollar is already weak compared to the Euro and the Pound and if oil transactions are conducted in Euros it will become chaeper. Nobody will want dollars and this will leave the US facing a huge recession and economic hardship.
Will the US attack Iran. Unlikely. Iran will cut off oil supplies of its own and make the Strait of Hormuz unpassable to shipping. The majority of Middle East oil which a lot of countries do rely on passes the strait of Hormuz and the Iranians (if they have any sense) will sink every ship that tries to pass through. This will cut of oil to many western countries and leave them powerless.
Also, Iran has Russian backing and Chinese backing. They have a better army than the Iraqis, and better technology.

No. To clarify, nuclear weapons are WMD. The oil resources [I hope] becomes a thing of the past as the Dems [if they want to stay in power] convert this country over to alternative fuel and take the dollars away from Iran.
Iran then can try and sell Oil for 10 Cents a gallon [if there are any takers] and can try and maintain terrorist activities with no money.
Edit for Rebuttal: Actually I am talking about taking the dollars from the Iranians. If the Global supply of oil is suddenly 100 or a 1000 times what it is currently prices will fall accordingly. That is a high probability item if the largest consumer of oil [US] no longer has need of it.

Nukes are only an excuse? Iran is actively working on nuclear weapons, and its president has already stated the US will be targeted. I would sincerely hope you are in the city that is first nuked by iran.
As far as the evil oil......perhaps you should practice what your preach. I suggest the following steps, to eliminate the need for oil in your life:
1. Stop using any and all consumer products transported by truck and/or plane. This will also eliminate your need for food, clothing, and 99% of consumable goods.
2. Stop using any and all modes of transportation other than human powered (bicycle, walking, etc.).
3. Stop using all products that are petroleum products (such as heating oil, plastics, etc.)
Enjoy your life without oil.

Nukes are the reasons; Iran's support of and supply of arms to insurgent groups fighting in Iraq can be the excuse to take up the military option. And since there's oil in Iran, heck why not control that too.

US will not attack Iran. They have learned a lesson in Afghanistan and Iraq, where thousands of US military personnel are killed. They will opt for a proxy war with the help of their allies.
