cossacks 2 does not start?

Question

SO:
I installed the game, then clicked on the icon but the game doesn't start!
I have:
Celeron 2.66
512 RAM
intel 82865G graphics controller 96 MB video memory (internal)
Windows XP
I don't expect the best performance, but game should start right?
I observe process "engine.exe" in task manager. It loads about 170mb of memory and then terminates.
No black screens, no music, nothing, pointer freezes for 2-3 seconds and that's all.

i know other people who have had troubles with that game but what i would do is take it back and say that it didn't work
