In the 90's the US military did a war game on just what it would take to secure and subdue Iraq. They came to the conclusion that it would take 400,000 troops 4 to 5 years to achieve the objectives of setting up a democracy in iraq and that then it may not work. They predicted nearly 100% the things that have happened over the past 5 years. It is public record that vet benifits have been cut and that troops are getting poor equipment and not enough of it.
So I ask you who is it that is really not supporting our troops?
I am very proud of our troops and have done much to show it but I do not think given what we know they need and given what they are being supplied with they're mission can be successful therefore why throw teir lives away over an incompetent commander and chief that has armchair quartedbacked his generals since day one?

Actually if you read the military report outside forces were taken into consideration. Everything...EVERYTHING that has happened thus far has been predicted in this military report.

I am not talking about now. I am aware of what congress is doing and actually not sure how I feel about it. But this is a new development. I am talking about the last four years of non support from the republican controlled government. The same session in which they voted to cut vet benifits they gave themselves a raise for set's sake.

well.. the thing is... we were all told "this is going to be easy" by Bush and Cheney...
and well... either they just don't have a clue, or they were lying... either way it's scary...
Bush's dad, HW, wrote in his OWN BOOK that he didn't take Iraq because it would be such a mess to put back together... in the mid 90s
Bush had to go no farther than his father to know just how naive he was being in his assumptions on how long and difficult the war would be...
if they had told the public the truth, they probably wouldn't have wanted to go... and we would have never found out that there weren't any WMD..hahaha... it's ridiculous.. the whole thing...

Sad to say that right now Congress said they are going to use the Power of the Purse to control this war. There are 12,000 Humvees sitting and waiting for repair, and they are not budging on taking care of things. I think they got on 5 star really Teed off by taking so long to appropriate the funding the other day.
If you tune into CSPAN you can watch the senate hearings live, as I do.
Everyone is blaming the president right now, and it's Congress that is holding things up. They cannot make up their minds what resolution they want to use...or I should say, who's. They also said that they want to make certain that they word it just right so that the president has no control from the time the resolution is finshed and they present it. They're sitting on their hands while waiting for many other senators to write a resolution they ALL want, and that's the truth. The president cannot make another move without their approval.
I've got family there, so I do worry; but those guys trust what they are doing is right, but they also told me that the media, congress and they way people are talking about this in the US (and yes they are well informed) that they have a death wish on them. Do you have any clue as to how heartbreaking that was for me to hear? In plain English the military is PO'd with Congressional leaders, and not the president and that comes from the high ranks as well. And another thing, don't let that guy tell you more have died than did. There's a little over 3,000 American soldiers who have died. I just hope my guys continue to stay safe while congress figures out how they'll make things worse by dragging their butts on these issues. And the other guy is dreaming about troops. We barely have the 21,500..that's it, and Congress won't send them until they are totaly armoured.

I totally agree with u. I am not an American and still I don't have any qualms about American Troops. It's puppeteers who should have been already burnt on the stake. American people or Canadian or Indian or Pakistani, everyone's the same. U think Iranians are blue in color, think again. Or North Koreans have two stomachs. We all are the same. Not only we share the same physical characteristics but also we are MORONS. That's another thing we share. A handful smartasses are running us here n there like school kids.
Another moron!

"we the people" not putting the name "Washington" back in D.C.
----------------
Washington had been reelected unanimously in 1792. His decision not to seek a third term established a tradition that is now embedded in the 22d Amendment of the Constitution. In his Farewell Address of Sept. 17, 1796, he drew on the results of his varied experience, offering a guide for both present and future. He urged his compatriots to cherish the Union, support the public credit, be alert to the "insidious wiles of foreign influence," respect the Constitution and the nation's laws, abide by the results of elections, and eschew political parties of a sectional cast. Asserting that the United States and Europe had different interests, he declared that it "is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world," trusting to temporary alliances for emergencies. He also warned against indulging in either habitual favoritism or habitual hostility toward particular nations, lest such attitudes should provoke or involve the country in needless wars.

Thank you, and furthermore, why aren't we sending in another 300,000 troops to go in and finish this thing? Seems kind of half assed. Just leaving our guys to die.
I watched 3 Kings the other day. So much stuff that has happened in Iraq was mentioned in that movie. Five years before Sept. 11. They didn't know? It was freakin' public knowledge!
Yeah, the Republicans have lost the whole support the troops thing, they just were rhetoric, no substance.

I CAME HERE IN IRAQ ON THE FIRST GO AROUND AND I AM HERE AGAIN. I HATE HEARING THAT BUSH SENT US TO WAR WITHOUT BODY ARMOR AND UP ARMORED VEHICLES. IT IS INTERESTINGTO NOTE THAT WE WERE ON BILL CLINTONS LAST FISCAL BUDGET BEFORE THIS WAR STARTED AND WE WERE NOT PROPERLY FUNDED DURING HIS TENURE THAT EXPLAINS THE SHORTFALLS,THAT IS A FACT. NOW HOWEVER I THIS TIME AROUND DONT SEE ANY VEHICLES THAT ARE NOT ARMORED AND NO SOLDIER IS WITHOUT BODY ARMOR, SO NO THANKS TO PREVIOUS ADMIN. WE NOW ARE SUPPLIED WITH WHAT IS NEEDED, LETS SEE IF THE DEMS REVERSE THIS TREND. I PRAY FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO WAKE UP TO THIS LIBERAL WAY OF THINKING, FOR OUR KIDS AND GRANDKIDS SAKE. PROBLEM IS EVERYONE WORRIES ABOUT IMMEDIATE THINGS, NOT FUTURE FOR WHAT OUR NEXT GENERATION HAS TO DEAL WITH

They send them into a slaughter then wave their little flags of support, but in reality a total of 11,000 troops have died. You will not hear this on the news due to the media likes to use technicalities to confuse the public. People need to understand that only soldiers dying in Iraq is counted. Not the ones who are air lifted out and die later. Also very good points and I agree with you.

The entire campaign, from the justification to the occupation has been greatly mis managed and poorly planned. Bush and his administration are sorely to blame. I see them as war criminals.

thing is..we are not fighting Iraqi soldiers that the study you quote was set up to project....we are fighting mostly outside infiltrators that come to that poor country to kill Americans....the study was flawed because it didnt take that into consideration....but then, nobody can predict everything...
