The guy i wanted to ask out to a coffee wasn't working yesterday, but i found out that he will most definetely be working this afternoon, therefore, im going in and im simply going to go for it. I'd also like to share something else with you guys...this may be a coincidence, even though i don't believe in coincidences...but, the first time i saw this guy, i immediately thought :" His name is John" without even looking at his tag and just the other day, i find out his name is indeed John!...what do you all think of that? Also, this is the first time i have ever lost sleep over a guy...i have a strange feeling in my stomach, my heart is beating faster than usual and im really worried im going to mess up when i go in to ask him out... I'm also extremely worried about his colleagues over hearing! I know, im paranoid, the thing is, when things are important to me i tend to get over excited...Thankyou so much for all of your support and if you have any last minute advice, i'd love it! :-)

Don't get such a fantasy going about this poor guy that he can never live up to it.

The fall back to reality can leave you disappointed and him unfairly judged.

Why do you post this under philosophy when there is a singles and dating category?

love and blessings Don

You'll meet plenty of guys in your life who make your heart beat faster, and the earlier ones make you more nervous only because it hasn't happened a couple of thousand times yet. The consequences of the worst-case scenario are not catastrophic, just an awkward moment, perhaps. So there's little downside to failure, and little to worry about. Look at the whole thing as a practice run--you can't get practice at this if it isn't real--and remember that the more you do it, the better you'll get.
___The fast heartbeat is a physiological thing that can be distracting. Breathe steadily, and expect your heart to beat faster. His will probably be doing the same thing, to some extent, and if he's too cool about the whole thing, you might want to back off anyway. But if he's the kind of guy who takes you seriously, he'll be getting a bit nervous too, so you won't have to feel like you're all alone in the excitement. And have fun.

Sounds like you're very intuned to this man. When I was in my teens I had an epiphany that the love of my life will have a name starting with J. I met him 1 year later and have been married to Jason now for 10 years. You tend to know when it's the right one.
Ask him out. Don't worry about his mates over hearing. Just be relaxed and confident, look him in the eyes and ask him out.
Good luck! Please let us know how you go!

Life is too short to wait for things to happen. There are too many "what ifs" and "I wish". And I've learned not to put off what could potentially be the happiest decision or moment to happen. Even if it's not, at least I did something about it. So go for it and carpe diem! Let us know how it went ; )
