Has any one had their laptop scanned at airports. The told me to take it out of the case and they proceeded to scan the edges of it with some wierd looking thing, I didn't ask about it cause It took me by suprised.

it's an ETD machine (explosive trace detector). it looks for gunpowder and similar chemicals.

The device used to scan your Laptop is a Chemical Sniffer. This device is programed to recognize molecules related to explosives.

If you own any firearms at home, it is not advisable to handle them and then touch anything you take on flights.

People can remove the actual parts in the Laptop and replace them with Gun Powder and other explosives.

So they might have scanned ur laptop with one such device.

I carry my laptop many times but it didnt happen to me.

could have been checking for drugs (computerized sniffer), explosive material, or these days shampoo
